RAJESH RAO
Rajesh C. Rao M.D. is a physician-scientist and practicing vitreoretinal surgeon. Dr. Rao earned his M.D. from Yale University, ophthalmology residency at Harvard Medical School, and fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. At University of Michigan, Dr. Rao is a tenured, NIH R01-funded surgeon-scientist. He leads a first-in-human, NIH-funded adult stem cell-based trial for age-related macular degeneration (AMD). He is a pioneer in the use of liquid biopsies for intraocular diagnostics of lymphoma cancer detection and diabetic retinopathy.
